One of the earliest houses in Port St. Joe, this largely unaltered, four square (central hall with pairs of flanking rooms) frame vernacular house was built in 1912 for Asbury Morgan Jones of the Apalachicola Northern Railroad. The gable dormer and the non-elaborated entry identify the house as an individual, local creation.

After Jones’s death in 1943, the house was sold to the Swatts family. Mabel Swatts was the daughter of T.H. Stone, founder of Port St. Joe. The Durate family bought the house in 1996 and lives there today.
