Second Drake House (Interiors Etc.)

When Henry Drake came to Port St. Joe in 1914 to take a position with the Apalachicola Northern Railroad Company (and to play baseball), he described the town as quite “woodsy-like,” the entire area being covered with palmettos. Mr. Drake served as postmaster for over 30 years and built two small cottages on Reid Avenue, in the 1930s. He and his wife Minnie Ola lived in the second house for many years.
